After the novelty of VR photography wore off, I didn't hear much about it. Sure, there was the occasional site that allowed us look around in 360 degrees (as well as up and down a bit), but it always seemed to me like a technique in search of an idea. So I was pleasantly surprised to find this extraordinary site by UK photographer, Peter McCready. He has taken hi-resolution VR shots inside theĀ Large Hadron Collider inĀ Geneva, Switzerland. In addition to presenting his stunning images, he's added natural sound effects that compliment each photo. The navigation of the site is a tad bit cumbersome, and you must wait a beat for each shot to load, but it's worth the trouble. For best results, enlarge your browser window to maximum and turn up the volume. View the work.

Amazing stuff. LHC is endlessly fascinating.
I feel like this a good way to visit LHC without the hassles of a full body scan, background check, and a PhD.
