Brand66

Just what the world needs: another blog from another self-important design guru. Brand66 is a design discussion presented by — me, Michael Rylander. Over the years, I've been lucky enough to work on some the world's great brands, like Apple, Sony, BMW, Fortune, and American Express.

I left my heart in a toothpick

It’s probably a good idea to extinguish cigarettes and turn off mobile devices before reading this post. Rohnert Park artist Scott Weaver has built a 9-foot tall model of San Francisco using 100,000 toothpicks. The installation “Rolling Through the Bay” took 35 years to create and features a ball that rolls through the toothpick sculpture, touring famous San Francisco locations. It made its debut on Tuesday at the Sonoma County Fair winning “Best of Show.”
