What does music look like?

German artist Martin Klimas strategically splatters paint on a scrim that’s positioned over a speaker. Then he turns it up to 11. With a different piece of music for each image, the vibration of the speaker creates a unique pattern in the paint. Klimas spent six months shooting over 1,000 frames to produce the final images. The resulting shots are Klimas’s attempt to answer the question “What does music look like?” or “Can paint hear?”
